This illustration was commissioned by the Association of Illustrators for the 2026 Inside Illustration series, featured across their website, social media, and newsletter. The brief invited an open interpretation of the subject of animation, with a focus on creating a lively and dynamic sense of motion within a static image.

In response, I developed a playful, character led composition that implies movement through gesture and sequential imagery, whilst exploring different forms and relevant workflows, hinting at its existence beyond the screen, positioning animation as a subject that extends beyond purely digital space.
